Whether you are a new network marketer, or a seasoned professional, there is one thing that probably challenges you on a daily basis: time management.
Several years ago, I remember the Daytimer rage. Then it was the Franklin Covey products. Soon came Blackberries and PDA’s, cell phones with web browsing and email capability. All of these things were supposed to help us manage our business easier, which was supposed to result in time saving and simplification.
Well, I don’t have to tell you that’s not always how it works out! These wonderful tools and devices and systems can shift our focus away from what we are supposed to be doing: IPA (Income Producing Activity).
Since moving my network marketing business online about six months ago, I found even more distractions to keep me from IPA. On my desktop now: Skype, Yahoo IM and a Gmail notifier.
Mark Yarnell, an ultra successful network marketer, finally got something through my head the other day. It’s simple. It’s useful. It can be done immediately. Here’s my paraphrased version:
Set aside two hours…
1. Do one thing at a time.
2. Do it right.
3. Finish it.
No checking emails, no answering the phone, nothing. Just IPA.
It is amazing what you can get done.
I will cautiously recommend a couple of online systems that actually will help with time management. One member of my team loves Viewpath. I use it, only occasionally to keep in sync with the team projects. Just remember, though, these are tools. If they are taking time, instead of saving time, by all means…get rid of them!
