Looking for a legitimate home business opportunity?

At any given time, there are hundreds of network marketing opportunities to choose from.  It is not only confusing to sort through all of them…it is even more confusing to figure out which ones are total scams vs. which ones are truly legitimate.

If you are researching different opportunities, there are a couple of criteria that I (personally) consider very important in choosing a top MLM company.

#1 — Is the product or service a fad?  Or is it likely to be in demand over many years to come? This factor  indicates a lot to me about whether or not the business is the real thing. If the product or service sounds unusual or odd or just plain hype-ish, keep looking. Trust your instincts.  If you find it ‘odd or unusual’, so will the masses. Save yourself a headache and move on.

#2 — The leadership of the company.  Who are they?  Do they have experience (and a good reputation) in the home based business industry? Are they involved in lawsuits regarding products, patents or business practices? Don’t believe everything you read on Google, Yahoo and Bing; some people simply like to complain and the internet gets them instant attention. Read and consider different viewpoints and you will figure out the ‘real’ story on the company.

#3 — Does the company allow affiliates and distributors to prospect and promote on the internet? (Most companies have finally seen the light on this one; ; if yours is stuck in the mlm dark ages, I would call this a DEAL KILLER)

#4 — Do you like the products or services personally? Is there a money-back guarantee on the products and services for your potential customers? (If the products are quality, the company should be glad to stand behind them.)

Bonus criteria: Do you feel a connection with the sponsor or some others on the team? Even though it will be up to YOU first and foremost to make a go of this new business, it is important to that you feel connected with other like-minded home business types. Your current friends and family may not support — or understand– your new venture.  These people, however, are walking in your shoes. I think it matters when you are considering which company to enroll with.

It is amazing just how many folks do not know what MLM is.

Well, what is MLM?

MLM is an acronym for “Mulitlevel Marketing”.

Here’s two definitions to answer the question “What is MLM?”:

- MLM is a sales program within which the salesperson gets a commission on his or her own personal sales and a smaller commission on the sales from each person he has sponsored to also be a salesperson.

- It is a distribution technique where independent salespeople represent a parent company and earn commissions based on how much product they sell. Generally in an MLM structure the salespeople may also refer or “sponsor” other sales people into representing the parent company and so the “sponsor” then receives a percentage of all product sales volume of this new salesperson.

Why MLM?

Multi-level marketing programs appeal to some people due to the potential for making money from “multiple levels” of salespeople enrolled beneath one in the MLM structure. This is why it’s called “Multi-level” marketing. Just that simple.

The variations on commission structures within the MLM industry are enormous however they all have common threads, and that is the fact that earnings are passed up and one can earn from the efforts of others whom he has sponsored into the program. In the course of diagramming out the pay structure for most MLM opportunities one ends up looking at a pyramid-like structure, which is where this phrase “pyramid scheme” comes from. It is based simply on the concept that you would refer, say, 4 new reps to the program and they would refer four, and they would refer four and so on. So you end up with a 1 x 4 x 16 pattern. The idea is that one would earn a percentage of the sales which occur below him in the “pyramid”.

Is MLM A Scam?

In the late 1970s through the late 1980s there were some very large companies who ran into legal trouble due to their compensation plans and the way in which they were administered. The government intervened and placed some regulations on the direct selling industry. Those who were forced to close shop were essentially those companies which did not even offer a product of any kind but were simply playing a money game using an MLM structure to pay out the people at the top of the pyramid based up the sign-up fees of the people joining below them. Some people felt that this was not an honest money game. This could be, and you may have your own opinion, but the fact is that now in the USA MLM companies are required to at least have a product or service to provide in exchange for the monies charged in order to be legal.

The only programs that I am aware of now that move money like this but have no product are commonly called “gifting programs”. As it is not illegal to simply give someone a gift, these programs can operate legally. This makes the idea of mandating a product a relatively moot point, since we are dealing strictly with semantics here.

Currently the MLM industry is growing rapidly. History has shown that this occurs when the economy and job market are doing poorly. As individuals look for ways to supplement their income many of them will come into contact with an MLM opportunity.

What Is MLM Today?

The big thing these days is in internet MLM, usually referred to as internet network marketing. The internet has proven to be much more effective as a communication tool as compared to the telephone, knocking on doors, hanging flyers, print media, group meetings and such things once thought of as typical in the MLM game.

It could be that the entire idea of MLM was contrived not by individual marketers, but by the company itself, who was looking to move more product. For many years there were very few people who made large incomes from doing MLM. It was a very small percentage. In most instances it was a question of a person purchasing the product and finding that they liked it or that the product helped them in some way, and then they developed an interest in the potential to sell the product themselves, or maybe even just to get the product at wholesale cost. This may be one reason why so many nutritional products are sold via an MLM model. These types are products are repeat business products and they are conducive to converting customers into reps.

The one constant problem — that requires multiple solutions for networkers and home based business owners — is where to find daily leads.  How to find quality leads. Where to find quality leads. What method(s) to use for attracting the right kinds of leads to your business, service or product…

Numis Review: Facts You Should Know

If you are on this page, you are probably trying to decide between two Numismatic Network Marketing Businesses. The two that I have reviewed and scrutinized are Numis Network and Preservation of Wealth. These two companies are great companies. Both with their strengths and weaknesses.

Both companies are utilizing a network marketing business model. This model has been proven to create some of the wealthiest business people in the United States as well as around the world.

The beauty of Network Marketing is the ease of entry some call it a low barrier of entry which is a fancy economic term. I call it an Easy In industry. However, this also leads to an “Easy Out industry”.

Since most people who enter network marketing only spend from $50 dollars to a couple of hundred dollars which leads many hopeful MLM’ers to never treat their business as a real business. By this I mean, when you only invest $50 bucks, sticking it out during a tough time makes it difficult for many.

Nevertheless, since you have already decided on this model and now are picking between two great companies I will give you my point of view on both.

Numis Network is a very high end company, their marketing is magnificent and they are actually geared towards high end collectors since their price point on numismatic coins is $99.00 dollars. Some argue that they are charging too much for these MS70 coins. I am of the opinion that only the market will determine this. I have seen MS70 Silver Eagle Coins sell for as little as $49.00 dollars up to $500 dollars. That being said your price point in Numis Network is still $90.00 dollars.

Preservation of Wealth also has an auto ship called option ship, similar to Numis Network, however they market the MS69. These MS69′s are arguably graded by a better grading company than the one Numis Network uses, but again this can be considered a subjective statement.

Since numismatic coins is truly a subjective undertaking, it is really up to the buyer to determine what a MS69 or for that matter an MS70 coin is worth. Preservation of Wealth charges around $50 dollars for their MS69 and in this writers opinion $50 dollars is a more affordable numismatic coin.

Preservation of Wealth goes one step further in their position of gold and silver. Preservation of Wealth gives its member the option to purchase gold and silver at cost. What this means is if you are also collecting gold and silver personally as well as running a numismatic Network Marketing Business you will have the ability to purchase coins at a great value.

Both these companies launched around the same time. Preservation of Wealth actually launched 3 weeks earlier in the summer of 2009 than Numis.

Numis has been joined by great marketers, such as David Wood and Cedric Harris which is the reason they have received so much exposure. At last count they had over 14000 members. This is something to consider if you are worried about competition. Preservation of Wealth has been attracting a lot more high profile marketers and their business is gaining ground on Numis.

However if you are like me, you like to keep the hype to a limit. So which company is better. Well that all depends on your ultimate outcome. If you want a company where you can collect bullion coins and receive 3-4 silver dollars for what Numis sells one MS70 coin then your choice is not Numis.

The higher end MS70 is your thing then Numis may be your business partner. Unfortunately for Numis you can also get the MS70 at Preservation of Wealth.

Another difference between both of these companies is the way their compensation plan works. Numis in my opinion is complicated with coded bonuses etc. That being said there is a lot of money to make on these bonuses at least in the beginning of your membership.

Preservation of Wealth’s compensation plan is simple, too simple and may turn some people off. If you have been trying to chose between Numis and Preservation of Wealth you may have seen Ray Higdon’s great videos on Numis’ compensation plan. It is long and complicated. Ray does a great job explaining it as he is one of their top produces.

On the other hand a Preservation of Wealth marketer is lucky to make a compensation video that could last more than 2 minutes. The reason for this is that the compensation plan for Preservation of Wealth can actually be explained in 59 seconds. In my opinion simple is better.

So as for your quest in deciding between Numis or Preservation of Wealth, take a look at both websites and make a decision. The reason I say this is that no matter which company you chose you should start your new business in 2011 with one of these great companies.

Numis Review Video – The Testimonials

Magnetic sponsoring, Online MLM Mastermind System, or the Renegade Network marketer?  Whether you are a brand new network marketer, or a seasoned network marketer, learning how to use the Internet for prospecting can be an overwhelming task. And figuring out a plan or system that best fits you and your skills can be confusing.

Is it worth the effort? Absolutely YES. Do you REALLY want to keep pestering friends, family and total strangers? (like that ever worked all that well anyway…but I digress)

Internet network marketing requires some very specific skill sets.  If you don’t  have these skills already, you must be willing to acquire them through hard work, studying and implementation.

You will have to push through obstacles and plenty of frustration.

I got a great email recently from a reader and I just had to share an excerpt:

“…Since, I’m new, if you wouldn’t mind breakdown what is my best/first step to marketing my business which is with NuSkin but realizing not sure if that’s the only product I want to promote. You mentioned Renegade, Magnetic Sponsoring, MLM mastermind and Attraction Marketing. Which is the best to get started or do all have separate things to contribute? The other one’s I’ve read good things about are: Site Build it, Traffic Force, Google Sniper and MLM System Pro.  So, I’m still confused if I need a lead generator (i.e sponsor daddy or Oprius) and how I get a lead page?

I’m fragmented, as you can tell, so any suggestions are appreciated…”

It reminds me so much of my first year online and the feeling of nearly PARALYZING confusion!  So much information, so many methods, so many tools. How does one know where to begin? I love getting emails like this one and I want to offer the writer — and YOU — some clarification.

First of all, let’s clear some confusion about systems vs. ‘methods’.  Magnetic Sponsoring and the Renegade Network Marketer are methods. You might call them ‘systems’, but only in the way that you might refer to a blueprint or business plan as a system. They are NOT online marketing software systems, with included lead capture pages, email responders and such.

Method #1, Magnetic Sponsoring

Magnetic Sponsoring, authored by Mike Dillard, is a book that will create a major mindset shift for you.  It’s foundational for all online networkers, in my opinion. After reading this book several times through inside a one week (it’s an easy read), I finally had my ‘lightbulb’ moment about Attraction Marketing. This is a physical book and is about 60 pages. I sometimes carry it with me to car appointments,  hair appointments, etc and read parts of it again. Again, this is mostly about a mindset shift and selling vs. marketing. Once you purchase Magnetic Sponsoring, you are automatically an affiliate with his various programs.  The affiliate materials and training are well worth the small price of admission, in my opinion. Method #2, Renegade Network Marketer

The Renegade Network Marketer, written by Ann Sieg, is a 140+ page ebook download. It bought it first, then found Magnetic Sponsoring.  Ann’s book explains attraction marketing and why we MUST change our approach from ‘old school mlm tactics’ of bothering friends, family and complete strangers–and then she lays out a blueprint for applying attraction marketing on the Internet, starting with creating your own website(s).  As a Renegade Network Marketer purchaser, you are also a part of the affiliate program.  The affiliate training here is thorough, without being overwhelming.  This part of my purchase turned out to be the most useful to me over time, as it taught me the basics of affiliate marketing, in simple to understand terms.

As a side note, audio mp3 downloads are available inside the member area for the Renegade Network Marketer. This is a great way to get through the materials, even if you have very little free time.  Listen to the modules at the gym or while you are in the car. Mindset changes don’t typically occur within a few days. Personal development, at least in my case, is constant and ongoing. Get your copy of the Renegade Network Marketer

Online MLM Marketing and Prospecting Systems

Next we have the actual online mlm marketing systems:  Online MLM Mastermind System, Oprius, SponsorDaddy, MLM System Pro and so forth. These are lead generation/lead capture software systems. There are many ‘lead generation systems’ available.  Some are generic, meaning they can be used with any business opportunity.  Some are company-specific and are designed to help you promote your main mlm opportunity. Some are quite expensive, some are very inexpensive and YES, it can get very confusing to choose.

With these subscription-based systems, you will have access to personalized lead capture pages, email autoresponder systems, integrated tracking and lead management.  Some systems include informational videos to educate your prospects about network marketing, while others go to a whole new level and allow you to completely customize the pages. It is for the more technically inclined, but the training videos and webinars provide the necessary guidance.

One more thing that might be confusing to someone who is new to online network marketing is that you may have bumped into the Renegade Network Marketer and Renegade Professional training. What’s the deal?  Ann Sieg is co-owner of Renegade Professional.

It is an online training ‘university’ for online networkers, designed to take newbies through every step of Attraction Marketing and building a unique and compelling online presence.  It is a monthly subscription service ($49/monthly) that contains hundreds of hours of social media and internet marketing training, specifically geared to network marketers.  It can be purchased stand-alone, or you may find it a logical next step after obtaining the Renegade Network Marketer.

Focus On Your New Skills

In closing, I want to extend a final piece of advice.  Choose one or two methods of online marketing that appeal to you and that fit your skills.  Then stick to these two things ONLY.  Disregard, for now, trying to learn everything all at once.  It will only serve to paralyze you from implementing, moving forward and earning income. Inside these methods and programs, you will be exposed to blogging, lead capture pages, pay per click marketing, facebook marketing, myspace marketing, email marketing, article marketing, search engine optimization, squidoo, hub pages…and on and on and on.

Again, make the decision to choose only TWO areas of concentration.  Get these methods up and going.  Once you are comfortable and are seeing results, you might then learn another method. Remember, your time is precious. How are you spending it?  Implementation, not chasing after the latest ‘bright and shiny’ thing, will bring leads, new distributors and more income. Have you heard of the new MLM opportunity – Rain Nutrition Business? Well I didn’t until recently. So I made a decision to write this review of the MLM newbie. The great thing is I am not affiliated with the company so I can give a totally unbiased Rain Nutrition Review.

Who Are Rain Nutrition?

As I mentioned previously they are a very new company and I am talking as recent as summer of 2009. They have taken the brave step and entered into the highly competitive world of energy drinks and nutrition. This is a very challenging industry. The nutrition market place is a virtual monster.

What Services do they offer?

They have two main products. The first one is called Soul and the second one is called Rush. Soul is known as the businesses flagship product. They report that Soul is a “very powerful supplement helping improve your overall health and longevity from the inside out”. They justify this claim by stating that the supplement contains radical fighting antioxidants and essential fatty acids that the body requires daily.

Rush is their natural energy supplement. They claim it also has free radical fighting antioxidants with additional energy blend, vitamins C, B16 and B12.

How do you generate cash?

Whilst the product sounds exiting lets explain in this Rain Nutrition Review how you can generate an income in this opportunity. The Rain Nutrition Business has seven streams of income for its distributors. They also claim that a guaranteed 50% of total commissionable volume is paid out weekly. The compensation plan is a binary type system which means you essentially build a right and a left leg.

The first income stream is the direct selling of the products to customers, or better known as retailing. The second is the 1st order bonus, this is a one off reward paid when a new personally enrolled rep places their first order. Third is a first order bonus match, this is a one off bonus override when someone you enrolled makes a personal distributor enrollment.

The fourth stream is team commission. You are paid ten percent of the lesser leg (known as paid leg). The 5th stream is a share of the company wide commissionable volume. This is reserved for special ranks and is a 3% share. The 6th stream is a generation match. This is a bonus check match of distributors you enroll and who they enroll up to 7 generations deep.

Finally there is a luxury car bonus for the high ranks.

Rain Nutrition Review Round Up and Final Words

I will be honest the company sounds interesting. I do a lot of research of new and established businesses and the compensation plan is very similar to a lot of the top well known nutritional companies out there without mentioning any specific names. That is not particularly a bad thing though just an honest observation.

My only reservations in this Rain Nutrition Review is the fact that the company has only been around for a short time. Some can look at this as an added bonus but I urge you to do your full due diligence to feel assured that they will be around 5 years from now with it being such a competitive market place. They have definately made a good first impression.

Finally I would say if you get involved make sure you understand how you will market this opportunity from day one. The company and services sound great but you as an individual need to know how to market correctly to make the big money.
